Walking around with loved ones in Austria's capital city, Vienna will be more memorable if magnificent street art--as a cultural phenomenon in this century--surrounds you. From scribbles to meaningful political artworks, it is all available at the riverside of the Danube Canal, or Donaukanal, called by the Austrians. Evenings on Danube Canal have become a place to hang around as it is delightful to enjoy with your loved ones.

What's the Route? How to get there?

There is no specific spot to enjoy street art in Danube Canal because the artworks are spread along the canal, but some said that it is best to start your art exploring journey in Schwedenplatz. To get there, you can catch an underground train or tram, with the destination of Schwedenplatz.

Uncovering the Arts

Some drawings on Danube Canal have a political meaning, while the others are just pure art--scribbles or line drawings--but also have their own art values. For example, a mural of the famous slogan "Refugees Welcome" on the riverside represents some European countries' warm welcome for refugees. The other artworks, even if they do not hold a discrete meaning, contribute to the city's vibrancy and creativity.

Some said that the Danube Canal is a famous place for Vienna's locals to spend time instead of becoming a tourist attraction. For me, this is a perfect hideaway destination to visit with loved ones to enjoy the charm of Vienna city. It will be a worthed romantic trip to go there, as you can enjoy the sight, even hop on the boat tours in the Danube Canal, and dive onto some of Vienna's best local and international artists' artworks.
